Tell me about the latest books you have published.
In 2009, I compiled and edited with Maximiliano Barrientos the non-fiction anthology "Conductas erráticas," an experiment that embraced various genres, from journalistic essays to testimonies of a more personal nature.

I have also published a book of short stories, "Vacaciones permanentes," that was re-edited last year by Reina Negra in Argentina and in 2013 it will come out with Tropo, a Spanish publisher.

¿Has publicado en formato electrónico?

Have you published in electronic format?
I have a column in the Chilean weekly "The Clinic." I have published short stories in the blog "54 semanas" and in the digital magazines "FronteraD," "Otro Cielo," "Los Noveles," "Ecdótica," "Big Sur" y "Suelta."

What blogs, electronic magazines or other Web places would you recommend for discovering new Spanish-speaking writers?
Aside from the ones I mentioned above, sometimes I check out "Hermano Cerdo" and the blog of Iván Thays. There are also some sites that I would recommend but are no longer updated, though they remain on the Web: "25 preguntas" by Juan Terranova, and the fantastic and extensive archive of "Los Noveles." However, I recognize that my true sources are the mouth to mouth, visiting bookstores in Madrid -where I am staying for while-, Facebook and Twitter.

Who are your major influences in Ibero-American literature?
The ones who are always present are Fogwill, Fabián Casas, Jaime Saenz, Bolaño.

What other writers have influenced your work?
When I write I absorb everything. I like to sit down knowing that I have on hand books by authors I plan to pillage. In the case of "Vacaciones permanentes" it meant Denis Johnson, Salinger, Hemingway, Jorge Campero, Natalia Ginzburg, Junot Diaz. Right now, while I write "Mordor," I am reading and re-reading Sherwood Anderson, Flannery O’Connor, Pessoa and Faulkner. The lists change as my searches evolve.

I also think that I have learned from cinema (Herzog, Kubrick, Haneke) and music (Bob Dylan, Stephin Merritt, Morrissey).

¿Qué nuevos autores hispanohablantes recomendarías?

Luciano Lamberti, Valeria Luiselli, Diego Zúñiga, Federico Falco, Margarita Leoz, Álvaro Bisama, Juan Terranova, Carlos Velázquez, Gabriela Wiener y Carlos Yushimito. Sigo todo lo que publican los autores bolivianos Giovanna Rivero, Juan Pablo Piñeiro, Maximiliano Barrientos, Rodrigo Hasbún y Sebastián Antezana.

What new Spanish-speaking authors would you recommend?
Luciano Lamberti, Valeria Luiselli, Diego Zúñiga, Federico Falco, Margarita Leoz, Álvaro Bisama, Juan Terranova, Carlos Velázquez, Gabriela Wiener and Carlos Yushimito. I follow all published by Bolivian authors Giovanna Rivero, Juan Pablo Piñeiro, Maximiliano Barrientos, Rodrigo Hasbún and Sebastián Antezana.

What are you working on now?
In a second book of short stories that will be entitled "Mordor."

How would you like future libraries to be?
I would prefer if libraries would send me the books to my house; the winter in Ithaca makes me want to stay home. In terms of format, I am progressively reading more ebooks. I love the idea of having a library that fits in an iPad or a Kindle because trips and moves have forced me to get rid of many books. I really belong to a generation that was born without the Web, and I still enjoy more reading printed books, underlining paragraphs and leaving marks on the paper. I suppose it's only a matter if time before I get completely adapted to the digital format.
